Let’s just say, “The Way Back” ain’t no “Hoosiers.”

While it might not be fair to compare the 1986 Gene Hackman classic to Ben Affleck’s tortured performance, both do use basketball as the glue that holds the story together.

And the basketball is exciting.

Affleck, an alcoholic construction worker with a failed marriage, is asked to coach the basketball team at his old Catholic high school where he was all-world.
