Jefferson Pre-K Student Dies From Valentine’s Day Crash

JEFFERSON – A three-year-old Jefferson Primary School student, Addison Louise Hickman, died as a result of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident Friday morning on SH 49.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety reports, the 1994 Ford Taurus Addison was riding in had slowed for emergency vehicles at the scene of an earlier accident.

The Ford, driven by Addison’s grandmother, Karen Cooper, 59, of Jefferson, was struck in the rear by a 1999 Cadillac Deville driven by Michael Carr, 48 of Avinger.

Carr was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Cooper was also taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another juvenile passenger in the Ford was also taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Addison was transported to LSU Hospital in Shreveport where she later died. 

Funeral services for Addison were held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Meadowbrook Funeral Home in Marshall with Bro. Danny Lee officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery.
