Hackler, Baker, Shadden File for Mayor, Davis Files for JISD Trustee, Moore, Lewis File Last Minute for Council

JEFFERSON – Filing for the May 2 election for Jefferson mayor, councilman and school board trustee ended Friday afternoon with three candidates running for mayor.

Mayor Charles “Bubba” Haggard said he will not seek reelection. 

Hattie Hackler, Rob Baker and Hollis Shadden have filed for mayor.

In addition to the mayor’s office, three seats are up for election on the city council — Ward 1 David Westbrook, Ward 2 Sean Humphrey and Ward 3 Kay McKinnon.

In Ward 1, Westbrook has filed for reelection.

In Ward 2, Robin Moore, Jamie Parsons and Gary Amburn have filed.

Hugh Lewis and Ted Dickson have filed for the Ward 3 seat.

On the school board, two seats will be decided.

Voters will select who will represent them in Place 4 and Place 5. Leah Cooper is the Place 4 incumbent. Kevin Godfrey holds Place 5.

Godfrey and Cooper have filed for reelection. Tolesia Smith Davis filed Friday for Place 5, opposing Godfrey.

Early voting is set to begin April 20.
