Police action comedies follow a set pattern. You have buddies who have been partners for years, the frustrated police captain, a couple nominees for love interest and evil bad guys.

Add a car chase, creative fight scenes and some inventive ways for villains to die and you have a movie. What separates entertaining movies from noisy, trite wastes of pixels are the script, the cast and the director.
