On Friday, September 20, the Bulldogs varsity football team squared off against the North Lamar Panthers at their home stadium and secured a muddy win, scoring a total of 35 points against North Lamar’s 7.
The team finished up their non-district season with a 4-0 record.
When asked about how the team plays and responds under the weather, one of
the senior captains and starting quarterback Kylan Thomas responded, “I feel like
the team adapted well to the weather; it just took some time to get our feet under
us, but once we got adjusted, it was all downhill from there. With this team I feel like
we face adversity better and handle it dead on instead of making excuses. We just
come closer together, see what we’re doing wrong and improve it.”
The Dawgs saw great plays by quarterback Kylan Thomas (#5) and running back
Dee Black (#21).
Kylan passed for a total of 93 yards and rushed for a total of 117 yards.
Dee rushed a total of 187 yards, scoring 2 touchdowns total.
Travon Johnson (#3) also rushed the ball 94 yards for a touchdown.
The Dawgs will start off their district opener on Friday, September 27, against the New Boston Lions with it also being the 2019 Homecoming game.
The game will start at 7:30 p.m. with Homecoming festivities starting at 7 p.m.
