JEFFERSON – Marion County Sheriff’s Officer confirmed Saturday night that Daniel Pierce, III has been arrested and is in the custody of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

On April 24, the state filed a petition to revoke Pierce’s probated sentence and an arrest warrant was issued.

According to unconfirmed reports, Pierce was arrested in Harrison County by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers Saturday morning.

The Pierce case highlighted the number of unserved warrants in Marion County.  Sheriff David McKnight confirmed last month that there were more than 700 unserved warrants including 109 felony warrants.

Pierce also headline news reports when three dogs were found chained to a school bus in November of last year in the Pine Harbor area of Marion County near Lake O’ The Pines.

The ongoing story of the treatment of dogs and the unserved warrants in Marion County has captured international attention.
