JISD Earns a ‘B’ Rating; Elementary School Given ‘F’

After a barely acceptable “C” rating last year, the Texas Education Agency granted Jefferson ISD a “B” this month. Both the Elementary and Primary campuses, however, received an F grade. Superintendent Rob Barnwell took the news of the higher overall rating with a grain of salt.

“I’m happy about the improved rating since community folks, parents and even other districts seem to use that as a ‘gauge’ when they try to compare districts,” Barnwell said. JISD scored an 83 in Student Achievement — a measure of how much students learned over the year.
