Marion County Proposes 2.4-Cent Tax Increase, Employee Raises

After a lengthy discussion and extensive number crunching, Marion County Commissioners Wednesday proposed a tax rate of 57.8067-cents per $100 valuation – an increase of 2.4 cents over last year.

The proposed budget, also approved by the court, includes a $300 per year raise for all county employees. The employee health insurance plan will retain its $2,000 deductible despite the additional cost to the county.
