Local voters will have the opportunity Saturday to choose three members of the city council and three trustees for the Jefferson ISD board.
Early voting began April 22 and ended Tuesday.
Running for Place 1 in the JISD board race are incumbent Jason Bonner and Bruce Boyd. Kent Thigpen, DDS, is unopposed for Place 2. The Place 3 race features incumbent Bobby Langbartels and Lorrin Minton.
Voting Saturday for the school board will take place at the Jefferson Fire Station, Smithland Volunteer Fire Station, Mims Community Center and Lone Oak Baptist Church.
In a public forum sponsored by the Jeffersonian Institute, the Jefferson Jimplecute and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Bonner stressed his experience as a private business owner and his prior service on the board.
Boyd told the crowd about his construction management experience.
Minton is the mother of a Jefferson kindergarten student and is employed by a software security company.
Langbartels is the plant manager of A&A Coating in Lone Star.
On the ballot for Ward 1 alderman are incumbent Jim Finstrom, JD, and Tyler Owen. Tyrani Braddock is unopposed for the Ward 2 alderman seat. In Ward 3, voters must choose between incumbent Victor Perot and Darla Marie McCorkle.
Voting in the municipal election takes place at the Jefferson Fire Station.
Finstrom has practiced law for 50 years and served on the council for four years.
Owens, a former member of the Jefferson Police Department, is a detective with Marshall PD.
A former mayor of Jefferson, Perot owns BrownRigg Insurance and has served on the council for 10 years.
