District Court Acquits One, Convicts Two

James Ross Hein III was sentenced to 10 years in prison after his conviction for indecency with a child/sexual contact in Marion County District Court March 5. After his release from prison, Hein III will be required to register as a sex offender.

Hein III has filed an appeal. Amber Jean Long has also appealed her conviction for manslaughter in the death of Amy Allen on August 21, 2017. Long was sentenced to eight years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Charles Austin Lathem was acquitted March 26 on a charge of aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury. A charge of burglary of a habitation against Justis Lawrence Wilson was dismissed. The Marion County Grand Jury did not meet in March.

Motions to revoke probation were filed against three people. One was charged with theft of material. The other had been convicted of arson. A third person had been convicted of two charges of burglary of a building. A total of $723 in court costs were charged to defendants.
