Mr. Lock was born April 14, 1927 in Marion County, Texas to Morris Millard “Jack” and Ollie Mae Bennett Lock, and passed away March 6, 2019 in Mineola, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Robbie Ross Lock, his daughter Rhonda Lock Jackson, his parents and his brother, Ike Lake.

Survivors include daughter, Roxanna Lock, grandchildren, Julie Rebekah and Thomas Wayne Thompson, and Shelby Lock May, great grandchildren, Tristan Robert Thompson and Ezekiel Thomas Thompson, nieces and nephews, Joyce and David Raines, Dan and Nancy Lake, Sam Lake and many close family friends.

Mr. Lock was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. After starting college at Texas A&M he left to serve as a pharmacist’s mate in the South Pacific during World War II and then returned to finish college at East Texas Baptist State where he met and married the love of his life, Miss Robbie Ross. After receiving his Masters of Education, he began teaching as well as coaching both baseball and football.  Football as it turns out, was his greatest love, after Ms. Robbie!

Most of his life he enjoyed coaching football, teaching and working with young people.  His most cherished memories, outside of his wife and children, were of the young men that he coached and worked with during his years in Queen City, DeKalb and Dallas.

The family wants to thank the staff and residents of Autumn Wind Assisted Living Center in Mineola, Texas, who so devotedly cared for “Mr. Bob” for the last several years.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Thompson, Tristan Thompson, Zeke Thompson, Ben Cooner, David Raines and Tino (Nino) Elias.

Anyone wanting to make a charitable donation in Coach Lock’s name may do so to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation.
