From Staff Reports
Jefferson High School’s girls softball team dropped a district game to New Diana Tuesday, 11-1.
“The game was a lot closer than what the score indicates,” Coach Robert Bristow said afterwards. “We could not get timely hitting when we had base runners.”
The Lady Dawgs also had to play short-handed.
“We were missing our starting pitcher, Hannah Welch, who was sick,” Bristow said.
Catcher Tierrani Johnson went to pitcher and the shuffle was on.
“We had to make a bunch of moves,” Bristow said.
Bristow noted the play of several players.
“Tierrani had a hit. Madison Bristow had a hit. Jaden Carter had a hit and played solid first base.
Sarah Smith also had a hit,” he said.
Second Base Ivaline Clark had to play with an injured wrist and couldn’t swing bat.
The Lady Dawgs have another district match at Elysian Fields, Friday.
