Jefferson High school boys took care of business in the first round of the playoffs with a 67-58 win over Arp High.
With the win, the Dawgs advance to play Atlanta High in the next round. Atlanta defeated Winnsboro 74-68. This will be the first meeting of the year of the two schools. The Rabbits are 29-4 (13-0 in district) and defeated Tatum twice this season. They will offer a tough game for the young Bulldogs.
On Tuesday night against Arp, the Bulldogs led 25-17 after the first quarter, and 40-28 at the half. JHS stretched the lead to 58-41 heading to the fourth and coasted to their twenty-third win of the season.
Lyrik Rawls scored 22 points, 6 steals, and 3 assists to lead the Dawgs. Chrishon Hicks had 14 points and 4 blocks before fouling out. Kevin Pinson was 7-8 from the field, scored 14 points, and had 11 rebounds. Dee Black had 7 points, Josh Thomas 5, Chris Shepard 4, and Carlos Jackson 1.
In the playoffs, regular season records no longer matter. It is win or go home, and the Jefferson Bulldogs are not ready to do that just yet.
