From Staff Reports
Jefferson’s Lady Dawgs dropped a district game to Elysian Fields with a score of 38-56 on Tuesday evening. Jefferson started out strong with an early 4-0 lead, with Mackenzie Jordan hitting one bucket and Tierrani Johnson scoring twice; however, EF took advantage of several turnovers to come out of the first quarter with a 10-point lead. Johnson had a layup and a free throw in the second quarter and Jordan scored a field goal. Maddie Bristow hit a pair of free throws, and Hannah Welch sunk one. Elaina Langbartels nailed a three-pointer, but the Lady Dawgs found themselves down 17-28 at the end of the first half.
Nia Garrett and MaKiya Young each dropped in 2 points in the third quarter and Langbartels drained another trey. Jordan put up a free throw, but Jefferson was down 25-40 going into the fourth quarter. Langbartels sunk two more three-pointers, Jordan hit 2 buckets and a free throw, and Welch scored from under the basket. The 13-point fourth quarter was Jefferson’s best offensive frame, but it was not enough to overtake Elysian Fields.
The Lady Dawgs were led by senior Elaina Langbartels with 12 points and junior Mackenzie Jordan with 10. Tierrani Johnson put up 7 points, and Hannah Welch had 3. Nia Garrett, MaKiya Young, and Maddie Bristow each ended with 2.
