Jefferson’s Lady Dawgs played their fourth game in two days on Friday when they took on the home team at Harleton’s Holiday Hoops tournament. The Lady Dawgs remained undefeated in the tournament with a 57-42 win over the Lady Wildcats.
After a first quarter field goal by Nia Garrett and a three-pointer by Elaina Langbartels, the Lady Dawgs found themselves behind 5-7; but Maddie Bristow sunk 3 free throws in a row to give Jefferson a 8-7 advantage going into the second quarter. Garrett and Tierrani Johnson each added a bucket, Hannah Welch hit a free throw, and Langbartels dished out another trey, while Mackenzie Jordan added 3 layups and went 5/6 at the line before the half was over. The 19-point second quarter gave Jefferson a 27-16 lead at halftime.
The Lady Dawgs poured in 20 points in the third quarter, including a 3 by Jordan, a field goal by Johnson, and a free throw by Welch. Garrett added a bucket and went 3 of 4 from the free throw line, while Langbartels nailed another 3-pointer and hit three field goals in the third frame. Johnson tossed in a layup after a steal in the fourth quarter, and Jordan hit a free throw. Langbartels sunk her fourth 3-pointer of the game and added a field goal and 2 free throws, giving the Lady Dawgs the 57-42 victory.
Langbartels earned a double-double with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 steals. Jordan had a strong game with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and a block. Garrett contributed 9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 3 assists. Johnson pitched in 6 points and had 3 rebounds, a steal, and 4 deflections. Bristow had 3 points and a rebound, while Welch added 2 points and 5 rebounds. Mikiah Allen had a rebound and 3 assists, and Jaden Carter pounded the boards for 6 rebounds.
