Lady Dawgs Defeat Hull-Daisetta in Overtime, 46-40

IMG_8822Jefferson’s Lady Dawgs won their second straight game in the Holiday Hoops Tournament in Harleton on Thursday. Hull-Daisetta, a team from near Houston, overcame a fourth quarter Lady Dawg lead to force overtime play, but Jefferson’s defense allowed the Lady Bobcats only 1 point in OT.

The Lady Dawgs led 12-7 after one quarter and 22-19 at halftime. Both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter, but the Lady Bobcats outscored Jefferson in the fourth to tie the game at 39.

Hull-Daisetta made one free throw in overtime, but Jefferson’s Mackenzie Jordan made 2 field goals and a free throw, and Nia Garrett pitched in two free throws to give the Lady Dawgs a 46-40 win.

Jordan led the way for the Lady Dawgs with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and a steal, and Garrett put up 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Tierrani Johnson scored 7 and had a rebound, 2 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Hannah Welch was strong under the basket with 6 points, 9 rebounds, and a steal. Elaina Langbartels scored 2 points and was solid on defense with 9 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 blocked shots, and Katie Holliday had 2 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.
