The Jefferson Lady Dawgs defeated the Beckville Lady Bearcats 55-37 in Bulldog gym on Tuesday. The Lady Dawgs went to 5-0 on the season in regulation games with the win.
Beckville jumped out to an early 8-0 lead over Jefferson, but the Lady Dawgs tied things up, 10-10, by the end of the first quarter. The Lady Bearcats once again took the lead in the second quarter, but Jefferson evened the score to 26-26 by halftime. The second half was all Dawgs, as Jefferson outscored the visitors 14-5 in the third quarter and 15-6 in the fourth.
The Lady Dawgs’ leading scorer of the night was senior Elaina Langbartels, who racked up 15 points, 3 rebounds, a steal, and a block. Senior Hannah Welch led the team in rebounds with 10; she also scored 8 points and had a steal. Tierrani Johnson had 7 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals for the night, while Mackenzie Jordan pitched in 7 points and 3 rebounds. Brianna Carter scored 4 points, and Nia Garrett, Mikiah Allen, Katie Holliday, and Maddie Bristow each added 3. MaKiya Young rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
The Lady Dawgs will participate in the Jo Ann Sparks Memorial Tournament in Spring Hill this weekend.
