Lady Dawgs Hold White Oak to One Point in Fourth Quarter to Seal Victory

Jefferson’s Lady Dawgs basketball team traveled to White Oak on Tuesday and came home with a 48-30 win over the Lady Roughnecks. At the end of the first quarter, the teams were tied 9-9, but the Lady Dawgs took a 22-24 deficit into halftime. Jefferson’s defense was dominant in the second half, allowing only six total points. The Lady Dawgs took a 31-29 lead by the end of the third quarter and outscored White Oak 17-1 in the fourth.

Tierrani Johnson sunk five buckets in the fourth quarter and had 12 total points for the night; she also had 2 rebounds and 2 steals. Elaina Langbartels recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 1 steal, 2 assists, and 2 blocks; she also drew 2 charges. Mackenzie Jordan came away with 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks; Jordan also drew a charge. Nia Garrett covered the court with 6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Mikiah Allen had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists. Brianna Carter netted 4 points and had 3 rebounds and a steal, while Hannah Welch scored 2 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Jaden Carter finished with 2 points and 2 rebounds.

The Lady Dawgs will host Beckville on Tuesday, November 27. Junior Varsity begins at 5:00, with the Varsity game directly following.
