Lady Dawgs Beat Sabine 52-40

The Jefferson Lady Dawg Basketball team opened bracket play at the Carl Oliver Tournament on Saturday with a 52-40 win over Sabine.

Jefferson, who had a 30-22 lead at halftime, had three players with double digit scoring. Junior Nia Garrett had 13 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, and 4 assists. Senior Elaina Langbartels grabbed her third double-double of the season with 12 points, 10 rebounds, a steal, and an assist. Junior Mackenzie Jordan was strong on offense and defense with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals.

Senior Hannah Welch put up 6 points and had 5 rebounds and a steal. Freshman Tierrani Johnson had 3 points, 1 rebound and 4 steals, while junior Jaden Carter had 3 points, a rebound, and a steal. Brianna Carter and Ma’Kiya Young rounded out the scoring with 2 points apiece.

With the win, the Bulldogs went to 3-1 on the season. Their next game will be Tuesday, November 20 in White Oak. The JV squad begins at 2:00 P.M., and the varsity game will follow.
