►VIDEO: Lady Dawgs Defeated By Lady Eagles


Jefferson’s Lady Dawgs traveled to New Diana for a district volleyball match. The Lady Eagles swept Jefferson in three sets: 6-25, 8-25, 5-25.

In the first set, the Lady Dawgs jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. Senior Ar’Tazia Warren added a kill to advance Jefferson’s lead. The teams traded points until the score was 5-5, but then New Diana took over. Gabi Moore of the Lady Eagles served 14 straight, bringing the score to 5-19, when JHS was finally able to break the serve. The Lady Dawgs managed only one more point in the set, and New Diana won 6-25.

Nia Garrett had an early kill, and the Lady Dawgs kept the score close in the beginning of the second set with a 6-7 tally. . New Diana then scored 6 points in a row, taking advantage of several JHS errors. Jefferson scored one more point before the Lady Eagles finished off the set, 8-25.

Two kills by senior Elaina Langbartels got the Lady Dawgs off to a good start in the third set. Jefferson led by 2 points, but then gave up 15 consecutive points, allowing New Diana to put the set away, 5-25.

Key statistics for Jefferson were:

Mackenzie Jordan – 6 assists
Elaina Langbartels – 3 kills
Hannah Welch – 5 digs

The Lady Dawgs return to Bulldog Gym on Friday, October 5  to take on Daingerfield. Game time has been moved up to 4:00pm due to homecoming.
