County Designates Sites for Voting, Sales
By BOB PALMER
Marion County Commissioners Monday selected sites for tax sales and early voting while workers restore the Courthouse.
County Clerk Vickie Smith gave the court copies of research from the District Attorney’s Office.
“Tax sales and foreclosures can be held in same place or separate locations,” Smith said. “It’s strictly up to you from what I read.”
“It would be better if they were held in the same location?” Commissioner Joe McKnight asked.
“Yes,” Smith replied.
The court voted to hold tax sales and foreclosures in Thomas Jefferson Park, 114 W. Austin. It is the area between the Courthouse Annex and the Jefferson Hotel. Until now, the sales were traditionally held on the Courthouse steps.
Commissioners also designated the Elections Building, 504 N. Alley, as the location for Early Voting which had been held in the Courthouse basement.
On Election Day, the Alley Street structure is the polling location for Box 4.
The court also authorized a $5,800 check to Grant Works as part of the previously approved improvements to the Mims Water Supply Corp.
