The Jessie Allen Wise Garden of the Month belongs to Elizabeth and David Puckett at 109 South Friou St. Behind the iron fence there are roses which having been pruned at the correct time are beginning to put forth new growth. The focal point of front garden is a Saucer Magnolia, noted for its luscious purple/rose blooms which are a harbinger of Spring’s arrival. The tree is encircled with narcissus, often called “paper whites”. They are members of the early-blooming bulb family. The backdrop for the tree are Chinese Fringe Shrubs, with their purple foliage and fuchsia colored fringed blooms blending beautifully with the showy blooms on the Saucer Magnolia.
