Peter Rabbit wears a blue jack and “no pants” as he’s hopping down the bunny trail to Mr. McGregor’s garden with Benjamin, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail. They dine on the vegetable buffet McGregor’s garden provides as they please (and much to the gardener’s dismay). The film, based on the beloved character created by Beatrix Potter, has been released just as Easter’s on its way.
James Corbin, host of “The Late Late Show with James Corbin” on CBS, gives the lovable furry bunny his voice and ever charming lack of self-awareness.
The Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes gives the film an 59% rating that Peter and his pals would surly find quite unappetizing. The 61% audience score stacks up believably since the jokes are funny and the action animation impressive, but the computer-generated imagery (CGI) is sometimes overdone and the plot wraps up a bit to quickly and tidily for loyal Potter enthusiasts.
“Peter Rabbit” (99 minutes) is showing at the Marshall Cinema with a kid-friendly PG rating for rude humor and action. Call (903) 935-5662 or visit www.Jimplecute1848.com for a full list of show times. Then, hop over to see it soon.
On an unrelated note, voting the Academy Awards is taking place this week and the staff at The Jimp thought our readers would like to contribute their expert cinematic opinion as well. Please visit our website, Jimplecute1848.com, look for the link, “Oscars 2018 Poll,” and vote for your choice for Best Picture. The results will be used as part of next week’s movie review section. I will also be revealing what my secret agent inside the Academy, Sam, says are the least likely and most likely winners. See you next week!
