Marion County chamber selects new executive director

Marion County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kari Alexander discusses the role of the Chamber with members of the Jefferson Rotary Club last week.

Marion County Chamber announces the appointment of Kari Alexander to post of Executive Director of the Chamber effective Feb. 1.

“Kari is exactly what the Chamber needs in an Executive Director.  She brings a vivaciousness and unstoppable energy level that will help propel the Chamber’s service to our members and communities to great levels,” said Mark McKay, Marion County Chamber President of the Board of Directors.

Kari is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in International Studies.  She has experience in numerous civic and philanthropic agencies and boards over the past 20 years.  This includes establishing a North Texas Chapter of the National Charity League, Inc.

“Within our 420 square miles, we as the caregivers of Marion County all have an obligation to support and improve our county, and work together to bring only positive experiences to those whom live here, and those planning to visit.  I am personally excited and very thankful to experience our many businesses.

Through the Chamber’s exemplary constant communication and unique personal support, our local businesses will have every opportunity to work as a successful community.  We will graciously embrace change, and we will welcome the past.  With this in mind, I look forward to working with all of our historical organizations, and with our new businesses.” Alexander said.

Kari, her husband and their son are new residents of Jefferson.  Their daughter is on a Presidential scholarship at the University of Alabama.  They enjoy the outdoors and especially are adventurers; white-water raftering, biking, skiing, zip-lining or hiking.  Cooking, gardening and landscaping are also a weekly event for her family.  The Alexander Family attends Christ Episcopal Church.

“The Marion County Chamber of Commerce’s vision is to be The Champion of economic growth in Marion County.  We will facilitate the success of our members; we will bring groups together for the benefit of visitors, residents and events; we will act with transparency at all times and provide best in class member services,” McKay said.
