The Jefferson Lady Bulldogs saw their fine season come to a crashing halt Tuesday night, ended by Sabine’s Lady Cardinals, 75-41. Jefferson’s girls finished their season at 25-9.

Lady Bulldog Head Coach Mark Allen and his staff – assistants Brandon Allee and Larry Sturgill – are on District 16-3A’s marquee, sharing Coach of the Year honors with Elysian Fields boss, Sierra Bradshaw.

Junior post Elaina Langbartels was named the 16-3A Offensive Player of the Year, having averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per contest. Three of her teammates – seniors Jamya Smith, Ja’Kayla Jones and Deivya Hodge – picked up First Team honors as selected by the district’s coaches.

Smith finished the year 12 points and seven rebounds per game while Hodge was right behind her, tallying 11.6 points, five rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest. Jones finished with just under eight points per game but also averaged 5.5 assists, 3.5 steals and five rebounds each time out.

Senior Tierra Hines led a trio of players recognized on the All-District Second Team, joined by junior Hannah Welch and sophomore Mackenzie Jordan. Hines wrapped up her Bulldog career averaging four points and 5.5 rebounds per game while Welch was good for four points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. Jordan finished with 4.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and two steals per game.
