Tempt the tastebuds; Chocolate Sunday is coming

Chocolate Sunday

Jefferson’s Opera House Theatre Players community theatre is celebrating its 30th year
with another famous Chocolate Sunday fund-raiser on Sunday, Feb. 18, at Kitt’s Kornbread Sandwich and Pie Bar.

Begun several years back, the Players have offered this special event each year during the period around Valentine’s Day to give people a special sweet afternoon to sample the best chocolate recipes made in and around the city. This year as before, the best cooks and chefs in the city are invited to bring in their specialty dish to compete with others to win one of the top three prizes and ribbons that will be presented following judging.

The top first prize was named after deceased, long-time board member and cook extraordinaire, Marilyn Lee.

There is no entry fee, but all entries must fill out an entry blank and have their entry at the restaurant between 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on the day of the event. Additionally, a special category is being offered this year for a student age group of 6 to 18 years old to show off their cooking skills by entering the student category competition.

There is no entry fee for students but they must have their dish at the site during the same hours as the adult group and must fill out an information entry form. The forms may be found below or online at www.JeffersonOperaHouseTheatrePlayers.com. Judging will be done by two out of town judges and will take place from 3 to 4 pm. Attendees who wish to come in and sample the goodies may do so by donating $10 or more per person during the judging period. Entertainment will be provided.
