The Jefferson High Bulldogs broke open a tight game late in the third quarter, then led by as many as 11 points in the fourth before taking a 58-50 victory over White Oak. The key District 16-3A victory improved Jefferson’s record to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in loop play while White Oak dropped to 9-10, 1-1.
Dee Mitchell hit a three-pointer to end the third quarter and started Jefferson’s runaway in the fourth, finishing with a game-best 21 points. The senior drained five three-pointers, none of which were bigger than the last-second shot that ended the third quarter with the Dawgs leading 42-37. He hit another triple to open the fourth and further wide Jefferson’s lead.
