WHITESBORO ENDS BULLDOGS SEASON 64-39 Hodge passes for more than 300 yards

By Charlie Chitwood
football 2EMORY, Texas – Jefferson’s Bulldogs saw their season come to an end two rounds deep in the schoolboy playoffs, falling 64-39 to a surprisingly quick Whiteboro squad in the Class 3A-Division I- Region II Area Championship round.
Trey Hodge threw for over 300 yards and connected on four touchdown passes – three to T.Q. Jackson – without throwing an interception. That the Dawgs couldn’t get anything going on the ground – or catch the Bearcat ballcarriers on breakaways – ended up being their shortfall.

Jefferson’s high-flying and oft-scoring season comes to a close with the Dawgs having posted a 10-2 mark. Whiteboro (9-3) advances to face the 11-1 Grandview Zebras in the Region II Semifinals.
Whitesboro wasted little time in getting ahead of Antwfootballain Jimmerson’s squad, posting a pair of touchdowns in the game’s first five minutes. Weston Hickman dashed 66 yards for the first tally, then Scout Sanders finished off a drive with a one-yard burst and a 14-0 with 7:42 to play in the wild opening quarter.
The Dawgs cut the lead to just a touchdown on T.Q. Jackson’s first haul – a 25-yarder from Trey Hodge with 5:13 showing on the clock – but Whitesboro responded with another pair of touchdowns on a second Sanders’ score…
