Longview Depot holds ribbon-cutting ceremony to inaugurating GoVet bus service for veterans

Veterans and members of the public to attended the ribbon-cutting event inaugurating the GoVet bus service that will provide transportation for East Texas veterans and anyone else who wishes to travel to and from Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (OBVAMC) in Shreveport to access their healthcare.

The GoVet bus service will serve the following seven East Texas counties–Camp, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Panola, Rusk, and Upshur–and the service will depart from the Longview Depot and Marshall Depot.

The GoVet bus service is a grassroots initiative, initiated in the East Texas region by members of the EasTexConnects transportation committee, who, working collaboratively with Amtrak, East Texas Council of Governments / GoBus, and Longview Transit, recognized a need for an additional transportation option for veterans in our region to access their healthcare.
