Obituary | Robert Eugene Gale

GaleRobert Eugene Gale died Saturday, October 21 in a Longview hospital after a long illness. He was 74.

Bob was born in Glendale, Colorado to Inez and Robert Gale on December 23, 1943. His parents were teachers and Bob grew up in southern California. He graduated from the Loma Linda Academy.

He met and married Joan Prettyman in Arlington, California in 1964. He and Joan began a family in California where Bob worked as a barber and later they owned California Southwestern Trucking Company. The business was sold in 1978 and the family moved to Jeff erson. Bob was a foreman at Harris Pine Mills before returning to truck driving, eventually going to LVN school at Panola Junior College, graduating in 1985. He worked as an LVN at Marshall Memorial Hospital for a number of years before he started another company, R&J Remodeling. He was a talented carpenter and even sang in a barbershop quartet. Bob retired in his early 60s. He was seldom seen without his beloved dog, Sasha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Agee and sister, Kay Owens. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joan, and their children Trenee and Gene Jenkins, Trent and Robin Gale and Quint and Cheryl Gale.

Surviving siblings are Ray King, Patti Brotherton, Raelene Covrig, James Gale and Jenice Cornell, sister-in-law, Gloria Agee and brother-in-law, Ernest Owens.

He is also survived by grandchildren Erik and Kristen Jenkins, Thomas, Sarah and Alex Gale, and Quint, Averie, Ian, Levi, Cassandra and Candi Gale.

Great-grandchildren surviving him are Jayden Jenkins, Jace Sharp, Leland Gale and Samantha Sleeper Gale.

A memorial service will be at in the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home in Jefferson on Saturday, October 28 at 5pm.

The family requests no floral tributes and that memorial donations be made to the Cypress Bend Adventist Elementary School, 2997 FM 728, Jefferson, TX 75657.
