VFW Commander John Cooper, Post 1037, reminds Veterans to file important form

Submitted by Commander John Cooper, VFW Post 1037

The importance of filing your DD-214 Military Discharge is very necessary. It is more so important to let someone in the family or a friend know where it is being placed for safekeeping. Know that if you don’t, when your memory fails, someone needs to know. If your spouse needs help, or you need help in filing for your benefits and that vital paper can’t be found, guess what? You are on your own. Veteran can file those papers for free at the courthouse.

Please! It is up to you as a veteran to make sure this is done. Don’t put it off . Remember old saying, “When night comes, no man can work.” Invest the time up front and get it done N-O-W; before it is misplaced or forgotten.
