From 4-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15th during Jefferson Cruise Night at the Jefferson City Police Department parking lot which faces Austin Street at 102 N. Polk St. In Jefferson, TX, the “Plan While You Can” interactive dodgeball experience will be on-site to demonstrate how drinking can impair a driver’s reflexes. A TxDOT spokesperson will be available for interviews from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In an effort to reduce crashes and save lives leading up to and beyond Labor Day weekend, TxDOT plans to show drivers how drinking can slow your reaction time through an interactive dodgeball game.
The display is part of the agency’s “Plan While You Can” campaign to urge drivers to plan ahead for a sober ride home. During the 2016 Labor Day holiday, which covered the time period from 6 p.m., Sept. 2, 2016 – 11:59 p.m., Sept. 5, 2016 there were 344 crashes in Texas involving drivers under the influence of alcohol. Those crashes led to 12 fatalities and 39 serious injuries.
