Power of the Word, Pt. 2

revHow is the Word useful for me today?

Hebrews 4:12, mentions four descriptions of the Word. It states that the Word(Jesus Christ) is quick(zao), meaning alive. It is powerful(energes), meaning active. The Word is sharper(tomoteros), meaning more keen, it cuts down to the soulish level. And the text says, it is a discerner(kritikos), meaning it has the power to see inside a person. Let’s examine what’s in the Word.

First, the Word is quick, Alive! Theologically, we know that Jesus Christ, who is the Word, is alive. Even though he was crucified on the cross of Calvary, we have numerous proof that He rose from the dead and lives forever. Eyewitnesses at the grave site viewed Him alive. His apostles in the upper room saw Him alive. Then, over 500 hundred brethren at once saw Jesus alive. Because He lives, we can confidently face tomorrow.

Second, the Word is Powerful! Jesus Christ is Powerful. “… the worlds were framed by the word of God (Heb 11:3). He’s Active! It’s one thing to be alive, but you can be alive and be lazy. Jesus is alive and Active, Powerful. The Word operates in the lives of those who allow Him. He specializes in impossible things for you.

Third, the Word is Sharper…
