Reserve Saturday September 23rd for the 4th Annual “Casting for Kids” Fishing Tournament at Lake of the Pines. The tournament will be headquartered at Cedar Springs Boat Ramp on US Highway 155.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Backpack Program at Jefferson ISD.
Identified students throughout the school district are distributed a bag of groceries on Fridays before they go home for the weekend. The bags contain food to get them through the weekend with items such as cereal, granola bars, fruit and pudding cups, Pop-Tarts, and microwaveable dishes like macaroni and cheese that they can prepare for themselves if someone is not home to prepare a meal.
There is a $100 entry fee per boat, with a 2-person maximum per boat. Registration will begin at 5 a.m. Saturday morning.
If you wait to register that morning, only cash will be accepted.
There will be four levels of prizes for the participants.
First place will win $1,200, Second will take $500, Third will win $250 and the Big Bass prize will be a YETI-Hopper Flip 12 Portable Cooler.
Tournament runs from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Weigh-in is at 3:00 p.m. Meals and door prizes will also be provided for the participants.
