Taylor Braley, son of Lehman Braley and Hope Thomley, and grandson of Johnny and Jackie Braley of Jefferson is ending his outstanding college career at Southern Mississippi by signing with the Marlins. Braley, age 22, went to school in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, playing for the Oak Grove Warriors in baseball and football. He has attended the last three years at Southern Mississippi where he played as an infielder and pitcher. The 5-11, 225 lb. junior gained the attention of the major leagues by being tabbed a second team All-American by Baseball America at utility player, D1Baseball second team All American 2017, named 2017 first-team All-Conference USA (utility player), named to 2017 Conference USA Baseball All- Tournament team, and voted as one of five finalists for the Boo Ferriss Trophy, given to the top collegiate player in the state of Mississippi. The Miami Marlins are homed in Miami, Florida and are a member of the National League East Division.
