From My Study by the Lake
Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” (John 4:10 NRSV)
What is it about a lake that soothes our troubled spirit and gives us peace? This morning my eyes watch the small waves as the wind gently kisses the water and waltzes through the trees and I am filled with quiet, awe and adoration for my Creator. The flowing water curtsying to and flirting with the lake shore brings a smile to my face.
There is hope in this body of water. It is a witness, a reminder that Jesus is the Living Water bringing quiet, peace of soul, salvation, hope that gently touches the shoreline of my soul. If I but allow, like a gentle breeze He waltzes through the troubles of my life, the temptations and pushes them aside. He removes them as the wind removes the dead leaves and dust from the trees leaving instead newness and freshness to what once was an interruption of the awareness of the Presence of God. Peace then comes.
Lord, thank You for all you teach me from my study by the lake.
