Jefferson’s Opera House Theatre Players are producing “The Marvelous Wonderettes – Act 2” on Friday, June 30 through Monday, July 3 in the Jefferson Playhouse. The musical’s Act 2 is a continuation of the first Wonderette show that the community theatre group produced in December called “The Marvelous Wonderettes 1958”. That show featured all 1950’s music sung by a quartet of high school girls in four-part harmony and solos. This time, the girls are having a class reunion of 10 years in the same gym where the senior prom was held before. The story is presented in all 1960s music including “Heatwave”, “You Don’t Own Me”, “Son of a Preacher Man”, “Leader of the Pack”, “Respect”, and many others. Accompaniment is by professionally recorded CD tracks arranged especially for the show.
Cast in this presentation are two members of the original show, Stacy Davis and Penny Mann. Joining them are two new singer/ actors of the quartet, Cherry Foster and Tara Craver. Art work, scenery and props are by Scott Imhof while costuming and hand props are being furnished by cast members. Kathy Thomas is again the vocal coach for the show but the overall production and direction of the show is led by long-time theatre director and founder Marcia Thomas.
Tickets are $18 for adult and $15 for students…
