Casting has been announced for the Opera House Theatre Players upcoming musical, “The Marvelous Wonderettes – (Act 2)”. The musical is the final act of the highly-enjoyed musical of the same name that was first presented by the Players last December.
The original show was a re-creation of a 1950’s high school prom put together by Roger Bean as a tribute to his mother who was a teen in that period. The simple story line was portrayed by four teen girls who sang all the great music of the 50’s in solo and quartet arrangements.
Act 2 is a continuation of the story, but is set some ten years later when there is a class reunion at the same gym where the prom was held. This time, all the good music of the 1960s is used to tell the Girls’ stories after ten years of ups and downs have occurred. Some of the tunes are “Heatwave”, “Wedding Bell Blues”, “You Don’t Own Me”, “It’s My Party”, and many more.
Cast in the show again is Stacy Davis and Penny Mann. They will be joined by two new cast members, Tara Craver, an understudy on the first production and Cherry Fisher who has played numerous roles with the theatre group. Director for the show is Marcia Thomas.
The show will be produced June 30 – July 3 at the Jefferson Playhouse beginning 7:30 p.m. each night. The Sunday, July 2 performance will be an exception, with a matinee beginning at 3 pm.
Tickets and information will be available soon on the theatre website at www.JeffersonOperaHouseTheatrePlayers.com.
