We can do better
‘Health care is the blind side of the Republican Party.

 
The GOP clings to lies loved by their base parrots, but block effective lawmaking on the subject.

 
Lie #1 – Obamacare benefits people too lazy to work.

 
Lie #2 – No one dies from lack of health care.

 
Rep. Raul R. Labrador, R-Id, tried the second one recently and got his ears pinned back.

 
At a town hall meeting Friday on the Lewis-Clark campus in Lewiston, Idaho, a woman asked a question.

 
“You are mandating people on Medicaid to accept dying,” the woman said.

 
“That line is so indefensible,” said Rep. Raúl R. Labrador, a member of the influential House Freedom Caucus. “Nobody dies because they don’t have access to health care.”

 
The crowd booed the congressman.

 
While the member of the House of Representatives looks for votes elsewhere, let’s revisit those two lies.

 
The Affordable Care Act was an attempt to close the gap between those who didn’t work or made so little they qualified for Medicaid and those who could afford or their employers could afford health care benefits.
