Flower Show offers palette of color

Flower showThe Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club held their annual Garden Club Flower Show on April 20, 2017 at the Historic Excel­sior House Hotel. The theme for this year was “A Palette of Color”, and there were artistic arrangements using nearly ev­ery color on the artist’s palette and a wide array of varieties of flowers.

In Division One, Section A, the awards were for Floral De­sign with fresh or dried flowers and it is considered the Design­er’s Choice Award.

Class 1 for this group focused on the color Purple. Winning the first-place ribbon was Mar­tha Lou Tomlinson, second-place went to Karen Gleason, third-place to Pam Thomas, with Mary Keasler receiving honorable mention.

Class 2 used the color Orange. Winning the first-place ribbon was Louise Grubbs, second-place went to Becky Deware, third-place to Kay Avery, with Carol Harrell receiving honor­able mention.

Class 3 used the color Yellow. Winning the first-place ribbon was Colleen Taylor, second-place went to Tami Whitington, third-place to Anna Bode, with Margaret Jones receiving hon­orable mention.

The overall Designer’s Choice Award for Section A went to Louise Grubbs.

Section B in Division One was for Floral Design of fresh or dried flowers. These ar­rangements also compete for a Designer’s Choice Award.

Class 4 for this group focused on the color Red. Winning the first-place ribbon was Colleen Taylor, second-place went to Julianne Fischer, third-place to Paula Rogers, with Colleen Tay­lor also receiving honorable mention.

Class 5 for this group focused on the color Blue.
