The Women of Jefferson Organization (WOJO) hosted their Annual 5K Scholarship Rabbit Run / Walk, in beautiful historic Jefferson, Texas on Saturday, April 15th, 2017. Our mission is to promote women through business, education and networking.

WOJO awards scholarships to High School Seniors and to adults for ongoing or higher education or returning to school for special training. We were able to award $2,500.00 in scholarships in 2016.

Event chair, Jessica Dougherty and WOJO President, Tammy Cornett, estimate over $5600 was raised for scholarships at the 2017 5K Rabbit Run.

Three divisions are recognized for the 5K. Congrats to the children’s race winners Ella Godfrey (time 2:14) and Geordon Huffman (time 2:27)

For their lap around Lion’s Club Park on the sidewalk.

The top 3 men and women received trophies, all participants received medals, and

all participants, 5K and children runners received swag bags.

Winners in the 5K Men’s Division were:

1. Tobias Daniel 22.04

2. Scotty Wennerstrom 24.06

3. Len Ames 24.34

Winners in the 5K Women’s Division were:

Following the 5k, a Community Wide Easter Egg was enjoyed by over 30 children participating in the egg hunt. There were over 2,000 eggs hidden at the park. Children came and went throughout the day, as many eggs were still there to be found.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported, volunteered at, and participated…
