Bad weather postpones key Harleton tilt

The grind of District 16-3A baseball has a couple of weeks remaining – time left for Johnathan Jolly’s Jefferson Bulldogs to break out of a tightly-packed field of four schools and claim the last of four playoff spots.

Jefferson’s rugged route to a playoff berth was to begin Tuesday night at Harleton but wet grounds pushed the game back a day to Wednesday evening. After that, the Bulldogs host Elysian Fields, travel to Ore City, host 22nd-ranked White Oak and close out the regular season at Waskom. Jefferson, Ore City, Harleton and EF are all within a single game of another.

Last week at Beckville, there was no repeat of the 5-4 ambush by the Bulldogs when the two teams played in Jefferson. Beckville hurler Ethan Harris dropped a three-hitter on the Dawgs, striking out 10 in the effort…
