Angela Norton discusses with Marion County commissioners at a workshop Monday disaster mitigation plans to be submitted to the state.
Commissioners along with the Jefferson City Council named tornados, windstorm, drought, wildfire, flood, hail storm, dam failure, severe winter storms, lightning and extreme heat as potential hazards to be designated in the Hazard Mitigation Action Plan.
Five items suggested by state agencies, but not included in the local plan, are tropical storms, coastal erosion, earthquakes, expansive soils and land subsidence.
