Pull out your pet’s best costume or dress-up clothes and bring them to visit at Paws and Claws and show off their best!
Sunday of Mardi Upriver is normally considered the “Family Day” of the three-day event with that day being devoted to children. On Sunday February 26th, the Pet Parade will follow the Children’s Parade which begins at 2:15 p.m.
The Pet Parade is a walking parade. Wagons, carts, and strollers are allowed. The pet parade is shorter than the Children’s Parade and culminates at Otstott Park on Vale and Lafayette.
The entry fee is $20 and all the participants need to arrive by 1:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
Keep in mind your pet’s temperament. All entries must have current rabies vaccine. They must be restrained, leashed, or kenneled at all times. Contestants must all be sociable with other animals. Any issues will be resolved by local authorities and no aggressive animals will be allowed.
All entrants must be comfortable with loud music, large crowds, and children.
Owners must also bring their own waste bags and are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
Prizes will be awarded for Mysteries and Masquerade themed attire. Judging will be done at Otstott Park after the parade.
The winner will be next year’s Grand Marshall.
There will be the following categories of Best Mardi Gras Costume, Best Genie, Best Wizard, Most Unique, Owner and Pet Look-alikes and the Ugliest Dog.
