LONGVIEW, Texas – The Jefferson Bulldogs turned the tables on Winona High’s Wildcats Tuesday night, claiming a 73-48 playoff victory in the same gym and against the same school that knocked the Lady Bulldogs out of the post-season a week earlier.

The decisive Class 3A-Region II Bi-District victory over Winona sends the 24th-ranked Bulldogs into an Area Playoff tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. in the Daingerfield High gym against Mt. Vernon. Mt. Vernon’s Tigers – the runner-up in District 13-3A – punched out New Boston’s Lions 90-51 in another Tuesday night post-season opener. The Tigers will step on the floor against the Dawgs with a 25-2 overall record.

Tuesday night in Longview, the Bulldogs rolled up an 18-4 first quarter lead and hardly looked back. Jefferson was outscored 19-17 in the second quarter but raced past Winona in the third quarter (16-6) before closing the game with a 22-19 fourth-quarter advantage.
