The Lady Bulldogs Senior Night didn’t end quite the way they hoped – a 58-51 loss at the hands of District 16-3A Elysian Fields – but they’ll still have other nights to remember this season with at least two more games on tap.
Jefferson finished the regular season with a 21-9 record overall and an 11-3 district mark, the latter of which tied them for second place with Harleton. Mark Allen’s Lady Bulldogs will face Harleton in a “play-in” to determine playoff seeding when the schoolgirl post-season begins next week.
A victory over Harleton – the game has been set for 7 p.m. Friday (tomorrow) in Ore City – will put Jefferson as the district’s number two squad and matches them in bi-district play with the third-place team from District 15-3A. A loss to the Lady Wildcats would drop Jefferson to the three-spot and have them facing the 15-3A runner-up.
Regardless of whom they play in Bi-District competition (either Winona or West Rusk), Jefferson’s girls will be on the floor again Monday night at 6 p.m. in Longview’s Lobo Gym.
