DIANA, Texas – While the rest of the state may be taking notice of Treston Dowell’s 24th-ranked Bulldogs, it’s the collective membership of District 16-3A that’s having to bear the brunt of the Bulldogs’ steamrolling.
White Oak (last Friday) and New Diana (Tuesday evening) are the latest victims of Jefferson’s undefeated surge through the loop as the Dawgs (20-7, 10-0) kept up the beat.
Tuesday night at New Diana’s Eagle Gym, the tandem of Grayson Early and Cameron Hicks split 42 points evenly in guiding the Dawgs to an 84-46 victory.
Early – named Monday the “Best Preps Player of the Week” by the Longview News-Journal – poured in 21 points on 10 field goals while Hicks pumped in nine more and went three-of-five at the foul line.
Jefferson jumped out to 26-13 first quarter lead and was up 47-26 by halftime. TheDawgs outscored New Diana 15-5 in the third period before closing on a 22-15 run to the final tally.
