Jefferson Native seeks to establish Jefferson’s very first Semi Pro Football Team

Team Owner and Head Coach Sam Williams Sr. is set out to make a difference with his first year semi pro football team, Jefferson Timberhawks. The team will be sporting maroon and white uniforms paying homage to the Jefferson ISD. The Timberhawks will be playing in the TUFL (Texas United Football League) ; a league that is represented by over 20 teams across the state of Texas. The first game for the 2017 football season will be February 25th.

Head Coach and Owner Sam Williams: “The city of Jefferson is known for a lot of things; priceless antiques, delicious food , haunted houses, city events and school sports programs. So it would be nice to add on to the list with something new and refreshing. The plan is to keep people involved in something positive. Playing football is not the only thing we’ll be doing, we also plan on being heavily involved with the community and youth. To build valuable relationships that will lead to something beneficial for the community. Though the team will be located in Jefferson, we’re also open to anyone from neighboring cities. Right now we have players from Linden, Marshall and Jefferson that’s a part of our team! The league does require you to be 18 and up but no experience is needed to play for the Timberhawks. We’re currently still looking for willing participants, hoping to finalize the roster with at least 35 players. So if you’re still missing those Friday night lights and you’re ready to step out on the gridiron one more time…
