A long-time board member of Jefferson’s Opera House Theatre Players will be remembered in a special way when the group-sponsored “Chocolate Sunday – PLUS!” is presented on Feb. 12, at The Hamburger Store in downtown Jefferson.
Board member Marilyn Lee (a native of Haynesville but decades-long Marshall resident) died in September 2016. She was noted not only for her beautiful, chic model-looks, but was also noted for being a fabulous gourmet cook and baker who contributed that talent to many organizations in Marshall and Jefferson over her lifetime.
Theatre Director, Marcia Thomas shared, “Marilyn was a really good friend of mine. I’d known her since the early 1960’s when I interviewed her for a radio show I was producing then. She was already famous in the area for her elegant style and fashionable appearance.
She was one of the most genuine, kind and supportive women I have ever known. We became good friends mainly because we had been to the Mister Lynn’s Modeling and Finishing School, and I asked her to model vintage fashions with my ‘Fashions with a Past’ show. When she agreed to serve on our board over 15 years ago, it was a God-send, since she also volunteered many times to chair our decorating, food events, and practically anything else that we needed including being a showgirl in several of our “Golden Era Follies” productions.
