Happy New Year!

Seth Buchner picIsn’t it hard to believe that we are already two weeks into 2017? Holidays are past, and now all the bills are coming in. I am still writing 2016 on my checks most of the time. I know it comes as a shock to all the millennials, but people still actually write checks.


I appreciate this time of year and the opportunity to have a fresh start on things. I want to do better in 2017 than I did in 2016. Statistics show that 25% of people that make New Year commitments do not keep them past the first week. That would mean that one out of four people reading this has already blown it!

My brother is a faithful member of a gym near his home in Baltimore, MD. He says that his least favorite month is January, because of all the people that pack the place after making New Year commitments. He laughs that it always goes back to normal by early February!


Maybe you are one of those that have a hard time keeping those promises. To be honest with you, we all have our struggles at one time or another. Let me share with you some good news that affects all of us.

First, God always keeps his promises! We struggle keeping promises for one year, but He has kept His for thousands! He says He will never leave or forsake us, and He means it. He says that He is going to prepare a place for us, and He will. He says that He has provided a way of salvation for mankind, and He has. I am thankful that God always keep His Word, and His Holy Book is dependable in all things.


Second, God uses imperfect people….
